Privacy policy
Your privacy matters, particularly when you share details of your home, your life or your health. This policy explains what personal information HEARTH collects, why, how it is looked after, and how you can see or correct it.
Who we are
HEARTH by Marlies Hobbs is a trading name of F.L.Y Pty Ltd (ABN 27 639 076 592), based on the Sunshine Coast, Queensland. In this policy, “HEARTH”, “we”, “us” and “our” mean F.L.Y Pty Ltd.
We handle personal information in line with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles.
The information we collect
We only collect what we need to respond to you and to provide our services. Depending on how you deal with us, this may include:
- Contact details. Your name, email address, phone number and, where relevant, your postal or project address.
- Enquiry details. The service you are interested in and anything you tell us in your message.
- Interior design projects. Information about your home and how you live in it, such as floor plans, photographs, measurements, preferences, timing and budget.
- Wellbeing sessions. Before a Reiki, AromaTouch or equine-facilitated session, our intake and consent form asks about your health, accessibility and safety, any allergies or sensitivities, and an emergency contact. This is sensitive information. We collect it only with your consent, use it only to keep you safe and comfortable, and never use it to diagnose or treat you.
- Young people. Where a participant is under 18, we collect a parent or guardian’s details and consent.
- Billing. The details needed to invoice you and record payment. We do not store credit or debit card numbers.
- Photographs and testimonials. Only where you have given written permission.
- Website and social media. Technical information such as your browser, device and pages visited, collected through cookies and similar tools (see below), and any messages you send us through Instagram or other platforms.
How we collect it
Mostly directly from you: through the enquiry form on our website, by email, phone, text or social media message, in person, and through our intake, consent and service forms. Occasionally we receive information from someone else with your knowledge. For example, a builder, designer or other professional may refer you to us, or a family member may book on your behalf.
You are welcome to make a general enquiry without giving your full name. We will need your contact details to reply, and to provide any service.
Why we use it
- To reply to your enquiry and talk with you about your project or session.
- To prepare quotes and proposals, provide our services, and keep you informed.
- To keep wellbeing and equine sessions safe, including acting in an emergency.
- To invoice, keep business records and meet our legal and insurance obligations.
- To improve our website and understand which of our advertising is useful.
- To send you occasional news, only if you have asked to receive it. You can opt out at any time.
We do not sell your personal information, and we never use your health information for marketing.
Who we share it with
We do not share your information without your consent, except where the law requires or allows it, or where there is a serious and imminent threat to someone’s life, health or safety. With your agreement, or as part of providing a service you have asked for, we may share relevant details with:
- builders, trades, suppliers and other professionals working on your project;
- emergency services, or your nominated emergency contact, if needed during a session;
- our accountant, insurer and legal advisers, where needed;
- the providers who host our website and email, and the online tools we use to run the business. They handle information on our behalf and under their own privacy obligations.
Our website, cookies and advertising
Our website uses a small number of third-party tools:
- Google reCAPTCHA protects our enquiry form from spam. It collects information about your device and how you interact with the page, and Google’s Privacy Policy and Terms of Service apply.
- Google Ads and the Google tag use cookies to tell us whether someone who clicked one of our ads went on to make an enquiry. We see this as anonymous totals, not as information about you personally.
- Instagram and messaging tools. If you message us on Instagram, Meta, and any messaging tool we use to reply, will process that conversation under their own privacy terms.
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, and manage how Google uses ad cookies at adssettings.google.com. The site will still work, although the enquiry form needs reCAPTCHA to send.
Our free downloadable guides do not ask for any personal information.
Information held overseas
Some of the services we use, including Google, Meta and our email and cloud storage providers, may store or process information outside Australia, most commonly in the United States. We choose established providers with recognised security practices.
Keeping it secure
We take reasonable steps to protect personal information from misuse, loss and unauthorised access. These include password-protected accounts and devices, limited access, and securely storing paper forms. Please keep in mind that email and text messages are not fully secure, so avoid sending sensitive health details that way unless you are comfortable doing so. They are also not suitable for anything urgent. In an emergency, call 000.
We keep records for as long as we need them to provide our services and meet legal, tax and insurance requirements. After that, we securely destroy or de-identify them. If a data breach is likely to cause you serious harm, we will tell you and the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner, as the law requires.
Automated decisions
We do not use computer programs to make decisions about you that significantly affect your rights or interests. A person reads and answers every enquiry.
Seeing and correcting your information
You can ask to see the personal information we hold about you, or ask us to correct it, at any time. Email hello@marlieshobbs.com.au. We will respond within 30 days. If we are unable to give you access, we will explain why, unless it would be unlawful to do so.
Questions and complaints
If you have a question or concern about how your information has been handled, please contact Marlies Hobbs at hello@marlieshobbs.com.au. We will acknowledge your complaint promptly and aim to resolve it within 30 days.
If you are not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au or on 1300 363 992.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The current version will always be on this page, with the date it took effect.
